ROY WAYNE “BUTCH” WARNER, age 64 years, a resident of Elkins, WV departed this life Tuesday evening, June 7, 2011 at the Hospice Care Regional Inpatient Center in Elkins, WV.
He was born, Monday December 23, 1946 at Riverton, WV a son of the late Emery John and Tena Catherine Judy Warner. On June 6, 1969 at Mill Creek, WV he was married to the former Barbara J. Manolidis, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Patricia “Patty” Mahoney and companion Beau, Elkins; Lisa June Pride, and husband Keith, of Fairmont, one granddaughter, Hannah Rachelle Pride, Fairmont, six brothers: O. Bardon Warner; Blue Grass, VA; Emery “Buddy” Warner, Green Bank; Harlan “Ray” Warner, Files Creek; Eugene “Doc” Warner, Beverly; Steve Warner, Dailey; and Kenneth “Tink” Warner, Marlinton; and four sisters: Ina “Bets” Pitsenbarger, Monterey, VA; Mary “Maggie” Tenney, Buckhannon; Linda S. Cross; and Kitty A. Ball, both of Elkins; one half sister, Marie Cobb, Mt. Sidney, VA; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by one infant brother Richard.
He attended the schools of Pendleton County, and was a saw filer for forty-two years for the former Mongold Lumber Company and later for Coastal Lumber Company. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoyed sharpening saws for friends and neighbors, and making homemade wine.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins from 5 to 8PM, Friday. Final Rites will be conducted at the funeral home chapel, Saturday, June 11, 2011 at 2:00 PM. Pastor Philip Lynn Ryder will officiate, and interment will follow at the Mountain State Memorial Gardens at Gilman, WV.
