Phyllis Pearl Wilt Thompson, age 90 years, a long-time resident of the Crystal Springs community, and more recently a resident of Colonial Place in Elkins, after having spent the past 5 ½ years with her daughter Roberta, in Woodstock, VA, departed this life Monday evening, June 20, 2011 at Colonial Place in Elkins, WV.
She was born, Wednesday, September 29, 1920 at Huttonsville, WV a daughter of the late William Weaver and Roseanne Ellen Hamrick Wilt. She was twice married, first to James Wilhelm, who preceded her in death, and then on August 28, 1944 at Oakland, Md., to Keith Lawrence Thompson, who preceded her in death, December 4, 2005.
Surviving are one son, Robert “Rob” Dean Thompson and wife Robin of Beverly, one daughter; Roberta Anne Collett and husband Robert of Woodstock, VA; one sister, Monna Guinivere Harmon, Phoenix, Ariz; six grandchildren, Ashley Jill Thompson, Robert “Bo” Thompson, Jr., Robert S. Collett, III, Kimberli Anne Collett, James E. Collett and Philip A. H. Collett, nine great grandchildren, five great great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by three sisters, Genevieve Ellen Isner, Virginia Lee Duggar, and Reba Mae White, one brother, Glenn William Wilt, and one half brother, Elmer Edward Conrad.
She attended the schools of Huttonsville and Poe Run and was a homemaker. She had also been a volunteer at Davis Memorial Hospital, as a member of the Gray Lady Auxilliary. She loved bowling and playing bingo. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Elkins.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins from 5 to 8 PM, Thursday. Final Rites will be conducted at the funeral home chapel, Friday June 24, 2011 at 11: 30 AM. The Rev. Dr. Basil A. Hensley and The Rev. Barry R. Moll will officiate and interment will follow at the Mountain State Memorial Gardens at Gilman, WV.
