BEATRICE ANN “BEA” MARONEY THOMPSON, age 73 years, a resident of Valley Head, WV departed this life Monday evening, August 1, 2011 at her home, surrounded by her family.
She was born Monday, July 18, 1938 at Brooklyn, NY daughter of the late Michael and Anna Keane Maroney. On March 25, 1969, she was married to Richard Leon Thompson, who preceded her in death on May 15, 2004.
Surviving are two daughters, Donna Marie Thompson and Cynthia “Cindy” Lynn Thompson, both of Valley Head; her mother in law, Dorothy Thompson, Valley Head, two brothers in law, Robert Thompson and wife Mary, of Havrde Grace, MD, and Walter Thompson and wife Jeretha of Belington, and one sister in law, Judy Primavera and husband Mike, of Norton, and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by two brothers, Jack and Bill Maroney
She attended the schools of New York, and had worked for Snowshoe Mountain Resort, until the time of her retirement for over 25 years. She was a noted cook, enjoyed spending time with her family and friends; and she attended the Oak Grove United Methodist Church.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins on Saturday from 5 PM to 8 PM. Final Rites will be conducted at the funeral home chapel, on Sunday August 7, 2011 at 1 PM. Pastor Ann Fretwell will officiate and interment will follow at the Valley Head Cemetery at Valley Head, WV.
