HELEN LOUISE SMITH WHITE, age 84 years, a resident of Elkins, WV departed this life Monday evening August 8, 2011 at Colonial Place in Elkins.
She was born Thursday, March 31, 1927 at Mill Creek, WV a daughter of the late Gilbert G. and Jemima Currence Smith. On March 5, 1948 at Mill Creek, WV she was married to Gordon Benjamin White, Sr. who preceded her in death March 2, 2008. Surviving are two sons, the Rev. Gordon Benjamin White, Jr., Huntington; and David Bayard White, Lafayette, CO.
Preceding her in death are five brothers and three sisters.
She was a graduate of Tygart’s Valley High School with the Class of 1945 and attended Davis & Elkins College. She had worked as a buyer for the Elkins Motor Lodge and was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Helen was a very loving wife, mother, sister and aunt.
Mrs. White’s request for cremation was honored. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
