Earl Tide “Pap” Moats, age 72 years, a resident of Parsons, WV, departed this life early Thursday morning September 1, 2011, at the Monongalia General Hospital at Morgantown, WV. He had been in declining health.
He was born Saturday, January 28, 1939 at Rowlesburg, WV a son of the late Harvey Clark Moats and Gladys Adileen Moats. On May 23, 1968 at Oakland, MD he was married to the former Cindy Ellen Pifer, who survives. Also surviving are one son, Allen Ray and wife Cindy Sue Moats, Parsons; three daughters, Connie Sue Moats; and Loretta Lynn Watson, both of Parsons; Jane Ellen Moats, Reedsville; two brothers, Georgie Moats, Bretz; and Harold Moats, Tunnelton; ten grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death are three brothers, Leonard; Ernie; and Junior; three sisters, Rosie; Gertie; and Hazel; and three infant grandchildren.
He attended the schools of Preston County, was a Coal Miner and retired from the Kingsford Charcoal Company at Parsons
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Saturday, September 3, 2011 from 12:30 to 2 PM, the funeral hour. Pastor Allen D. Crosten will officiate and interment will follow at the Fairview Cemetery at St. George, WV.
