Clifford Mack Sim Dolly Sr 1918-2011 Obituary
Clifford Mack “Sim” Dolly, Sr., age 93 years, a resident of Valley Bend, WV departed this life early Tuesday morning, September 6, 2011 at the Hospice Care Regional Inpatient Center at Elkins.
He was born Sunday, May 26, 1918 at Whitmer, WV a son of the late Sunday and Pearl Humphrey Dolly. On June 5, 1938 at Monterey, VA he was married to the former Mary Ellen Flint, who preceded him in death October 6, 2009. Surviving are two sons, Clifford M. “Bob” Dolly, Jr., Elkins; Charles E. Dolly and wife Laura, Fairmont; two daughters, Jo Ellen Parsons, Elkins; Linda Sue Isner and husband Asher, Beverly; three brothers, Mike Dolly, Whitmer; Eugene Dolly and wife Betty, Belington; and Jack Dolly and wife Margaret, Ripley; twin sisters, Ruth Long, Whitmer; and Ruby Dolly, Riverton; eight grandchildren, John Parsons and wife Amy; Jay Parsons and wife Lorraine; Robin Dolly and wife Tammy; Ashley Isner; Mandy Isner and fiancé Brian; Jason Isner and wife Jessie; Chad Dolly; and Charla Secreto and husband Frank; and seven great grandchildren, Grace Parsons; Meghan and Allison Dolly; Jacob and Jonathan Isner; Jared and Justin Parsons.
Preceding him in death are four brothers, Billie; Floyd; Leon; and John Dolly, three sisters, Dorothy Sites; Vivian Tyre; and Naomi Warner and one son in law, James F. Parsons.
He attended the schools of Whitmer, and then joined the Civilian Conservation Corps for three years. He worked in the Shipyard at Baltimore Maryland and was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Marines at Hiroshima and Nagasaki. He was a member of the Randolph Lodge # 55, A. F. & A. M., of which he received his fifty year pin, the Beverly Chapter # 23, Royal Arch Masons, the Pilgrim Commandry # 21, Knights Templar, the Scottish Rite at Clarksburg, the Osiris Temple at Wheeling and the Tygart’s Valley Shrine Club. He was also a member of the Marine Corp’s League, the H. W. Daniel’s Post # 29, American Legion and the Tygart’s Valley Post # 3647, Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a coal miner with Bethlehem Steel at Point Mountain and owned and operated Dolly Auto Company for twenty years from which he retired.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins from 5 to 7 PM, Saturday. Final Rites will be conducted at the funeral home chapel, Sunday, September 11, 2011 at 1:30 PM. The Rev. Mr. Raymond G. Godwin will officiate and interment will follow at the Mt. Vernon Cemetery at Beverly, WV, where the H. W. Daniel’s Post # 29, American Legion and the Tygart’s Valley Post # 3647, Veterans of Foreign Wars will conduct full military rites and the Randolph Lodge # 55, A. F. & A. M. will conduct Masonic Graveside Rites.
