Russell James “Sonny” Claypool, age 65, of Buckhannon, WV, passed away on Thursday, February 7, 2013 at his home with his loving family present and under the care of St. Joseph’s Hospice. He was born November 19, 1947 in Ohio, a son of the late Frank and Ellen Canter Claypool. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by several family members, a daughter, an infant son, a brother and two sisters. He is survived by his companion, Anna Mae Golden of Buckhannon; oldest daughter, Sharron Lyons and husband Rusty of Hodgesville, WV; three sons, Michael Claypool and wife Becky of Hodgesville, Russell Claypool and wife Kellie who reside in Claypool Holler and David Claypool and wife Wanda of Kanawha Head, WV; one step-son, Kenneth Miller and wife Tonya of Kanawha Head; twelve grandchildren and one great granddaughter; several nieces and nephews; three brothers, Roy Lee Claypool and wife Jeannie, Charles Claypool and wife Millie and Jerry “Mud Turtle” Claypool all of Claypool Holler; six sisters, Betty Claypool and Linda Howard both of Claypool Holler, Barbara Smith and husband Ernie of Heaston Ridge, WV, Sherry Gould of Hackers Creek, WV, Bonnie Neal and husband Joe and Martha Peck of Buckhannon. Mr. Claypool worked for Wally’s Laundromat for many years. He loved hunting, fishing and sitting outside around the campfire with many family and friends. Friends will be received Saturday, February 9, 2013 from 5-8 PM at the Poling-st. Clair Funeral Home. Poling-st. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
