Paul Charles Clawson, Sr., age 77, of Buckhannon, WV, peacefully passed away of cancer Sunday, March 17, 2013 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV. Paul was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He was born July 29, 1935 to the late Earl and Freda Clawson in Bell Twp., Westmoreland County, PA and was raised in Spring Church, PA. He is survived by his beloved wife, Helen (Bernat) Clawson and his children, Paul Charles Clawson, Jr. of Buckhannon and Lisa (Nathan) Landis of Wendell, NC and her two children Taylor and Sam. He is also survived by his sisters, Bertha Bonanno of Las Vegas, NV and Dolores Rowley of North Apollo, PA and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Paul honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was stationed in Washington, DC as a member of the Distinguished Honor Guard for the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Arlington National Cemetery. From 1978 until his retirement in 2002, Paul was the Director of Food Services for Aladdin Food Management Service at West Virginia Wesleyan College in Buckhannon. Well loved and respected by his employees, he is affectionately known as “Mr. C” by his staff. His love and enthusiasm as a fan and participant in an array sports is known by those close to him. He was an avid golfer, hunter and fisherman. He is a member of Spring Church Lutheran Church. He was an active member of the Fraternal Order of Elks Lodge # 1736 as well as the Moose Lodge # 598 both of Buckhannon. At his request he will be cremated and there will be no services. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the WVWC Athletic Dept. Poling-st. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
