Danny “Popps” Daugherty, age 70, of Buckhannon, WV died Thursday, November 28, 2013 at his home. He was born February 13, 1943 in Barbour County, WV, a son of the late Corbett Van Daugherty and Eva Mildred Foster Daugherty Thompson. On September 1, 1990 he married Angela L. Gifford who survives. Also surviving are three sons, Shawn Daugherty and wife Amy of Charlotte, NC, Shannon Daugherty & Fiancé Christine Bennett and Ian Allen Daugherty and wife Melissa all of Buckhannon; nine granddaughter and four grandsons; five brothers, Hugh Daugherty and wife Dorthy of Philippi, Ivan Eugene Daugherty of Portland, OR, Randall Daugherty and wife Deonna Rose of Glen Burnie, MD, Butch Daugherty of Philippi, WV and Jimmy Thompson of Belington, WV; two sisters, Louise Moore of Philippi and Orella Harris of Staunton, VA and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his step father, Ogle Paul Thompson and one son, Michael Vane Daugherty. “Popps” was a biker and enjoyed life to the fullest. He served in the US Air Force for 20 years and was a Viet Nam Vet from 1967-1968. He was a helicopter medic with 38th Para Rescue. Friends will be received Sunday, December 1, 2013 from 1-2 PM at the Poling-st. Clair Funeral Home with funeral service following with Pastor James L. Gifford and Marylee Hunt officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Olive Church Cemetery at Hemlock, WV. Poling-st. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
