OBITUARY: MARGARET “ANN” HUMPHREYS Margaret “Ann” Humphreys, 84, of Rt. #1, Moatsville, died Saturday, January 19, 2013 in the Hospice Care Corp. “Hospice House,” Elkins, following an extended illness. She was born February 13, 1928, near Philippi, a daughter of the late Claude B. and Bessie (Saffle) Gribble. She was raised by Elizabeth Gribble Nestor and Britton Nestor. On April 3, 1947, she was married to George Harley Humphreys, who preceded her in death on May 30, 1972. Surviving are two daughters, Carol “Sue” Wright and Kimberly Ann McDowell and husband, Ryan, all of Moatsville; one son, Larry Michael “Mike” Humphreys and wife, Sharon, Charlotte, N.C.; eight grandchildren, Lisa (Byron) Cooper, Moatsville, Tina (Randy) Shriver, Philippi, Heather (Daniel) Hinson, Richard (Chunka) Humphreys and Kory Humphreys, all of Charlotte, Suzanna (Troy) Smith, Philippi, Derek McDowell, Elkins, Dannielle McDowell, Moatsville; eleven great grandchildren, Brittini, Nikki and David Shriver, Blake Cooper, Triston and Kenzie Smith, Caleb Humphreys, Noah and Abigale Hinson (twins), Ty and Annan Humphreys; and her foster sister, Martha “Sissy” Adams, Nestorville. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Elsie Mae Marsh; by a brother, Edwin Frank Gribble, by a son-in-law, David Eugene Wright and by a foster brother, Robert Gribble. Mrs. Humphreys was a homemaker, a Senior Companion and Care Giver and a former cook at the Nestorville School. She was a member of the Nestorville United Methodist Church and a former member of the Farm Women’s Club. She loved to quilt and was an avid vegetable and flower gardener. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, January 22, from the Nestorville United Methodist Church. The Rev. Kenny Kendall, the Rev. Greg Lewis and the Rev. John Flynn will officiate and interment will follow in the Marsh Graveyard at the Cross Roads Cemetery. Friends may call at the Nestorville U. M. Church from 4:00 until 9:00 P.M. on Monday and from 9:00 until 11:00 A.M., the funeral hour, on Tuesday. The Stemple & Forman Funeral Home was entrusted with arrangements.
