DOROTHA KAY TETER NELSON, age 64 years, a resident of Whitmer, WV departed this life Monday morning, December 7, 2009 at the Ruby Memorial Hospital at Morgantown, WV. She had been in declining health.
She was born Sunday, March 11, 1945 at Whitmer, WV, a daughter of the late Roy Isom “Jake” Teter and Iva Marie Thompson. On May 21, 1966 at Whitmer, WV, she was married to Ray Jennings Nelson, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Roy Dale Teter and wife Ruby of Elkins, Gary Ray Nelson and wife Heather of Hubbard, Oh; two daughters, Dorothy Darlene Nelson, and Denise Ann Vance and husband Paul, all of Whitmer; two brothers, Donald Teter and wife Urse, Delbert Teter and wife Paula, all of Whitmer; three sisters, Norma Mullenax and husband Floyd of Whitmer, Ruth Smith and husband Jerry of Elkins, Teresa Snyder and husband Joe of Davis; six grandchildren, Jennifer, twins, Alyssa and Erin, Autumn, Bryan and Alexis; three great grandchildren, Hunter, Hayle and Mason.
Preceding her in death are two brothers, Willard “Bim” Teter and Harold Teter; one infant sister, Ruby Gail Teter.
She attended the schools of Whitmer. She attended the Mennonite Church at Horton, WV, as a child and was a member of the Whitmer Church of God. She was a homemaker, a noted cook and she was an avid Nintendo player loving the game Doctor Mario.
The family will receive friends at the Whitmer Church of God from 5 until 8 PM, Wednesday. Final rites will be conducted from the Church on Thursday, December 10, 2009 at 12:30PM. Pastor Steve Bailey will officiate and interment will follow at the Laurel Hill Cemetery at Whitmer.
