Jeanette T. “Janet” Lewis, age 79 years, a resident of Beverly, passed away Wednesday evening, August 1, 2012 at the Hospice Care Inpatient Center. She was born October 21, 1932 at Monterville, a daughter of the late Calvin Cecil and Lettie Effie Hogan Riggleman. She was married to Charles N. Lewis who survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Paula J. Baughman and husband Bob, of Philippi, Patricia K. “Trish” Thomason and husband Don, of Beverly and Stephanie L. Beer and husband David of Buckhannon. A brother, Newton F. Riggleman of Beverly, a sister, Virginia Stalnaker of Conroe, TX., grandchildren, Douglas W. Bright and wife Shelly of Cross Lanes, WV, Charna N. Ferguson and husband Shawn of Elkins, Joshua Teter and wife Samantha of Mabie, Janine R. and Nathaniel J. L. Beer of Buckhannon, six great grandchildren and one step great grandson also survive. Also preceding her in death was one brother, George Elmer Riggleman and one infant sister.
Janet had worked as a receptionist for Lewis Tax Service for twelve years and had been employed as a cook with the Randolph County Schools for thirteen years and the Randolph County Senior Center. She was a member of the Randolph County Cancer Support Group, West Virginia Association of Retired School Employees and the Beverly United Methodist Church.
Friends may call from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Saturday, August 4, 2012 at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Sunday, August 5th from the funeral home chapel with Rev. Carroll McCauley and Rev. Leon Brown officiating. Interment will follow in the Beverly Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Beverly United Methodist Church Building Fund, PO Box 130, Beverly, WV 26253 in memory of Janet.
