Mr. A. Cleston Zirkle, age 87, a resident of Estill Springs, TN passed away Tuesday morning, July 31, 2012 at Morning Pointe of Tullahoma, TN. A native of Cassity, WV, he was a son of the late Adam and Nola Alice Chewning Zirkle. In addition to his parents he is also preceded in death by his wife, Pauline Marie Stankus Zirkle and brothers Arden, Aaron, Kermit, Howard, Armond, and Kilmer. He was a retired coalminer and a decorated US Army Veteran having served during World War II.
He is survived by his loving daughter; Veronica Polce and husband Ron of Moore County TN, two grandchildren; Teresa Polce and Greg Polce and wife Ashley, one great grandson; Bo Grayden, and one sister; Gloria Moran and husband Jack of Warren, OH.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Friday, August 3, 2012 at the American Legion’s Little Arlington Cemetery near Elkins. Rev. Barry Moll will officiate and full military rites will be accorded at the gravesite by members of the West Virginia National Guard Honor Guard Program, H.W. Daniels Post 29 American Legion and Tygart Valley Post 3647 Veterans of Foreign Wars. The family will receive friends and a lunch will be held at the Holiday Inn Express in Elkins immediately following the service. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to Hospice of the Highland Rim, 110 E. Lauderdale St., Tullahoma, TN 37388. The Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins is in charge of the arrangements for Mr. A. Cleston Zirkle.
