Barbara Ellen Phillips Meece, age 75 years, a resident of Elkins, passed away Thursday, November 1, 2012 in the Davis Memorial Hospital. She was born May 22, 1937 in Elkins, a daughter of the late Delbert C. Phillips and the late Sarah Madge Booth Phillips. On May 5, 1963, she was married to Thomas Edison Meece, Sr. who preceded her in death on December 2, 2002. Surviving is one son, Mikheal Meece and wife Rebecca, Bethel Park, PA., two daughters, Jean Meece Tapley, Wilson Hills, NC and Amy Meece of Elkins. Four grandchildren, Kristopher Tapley and wife April, Connor, Noah and Olivia Meece also survive. Mrs. Meece was a graduate of Elkins High School and attended Davis and Elkins College and was a Homemaker. At the request of the deceased, her remains were cremated. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, November 17, 2012 at the Tomblyn Funeral Home Chapel. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Fund of America, 322 8th Ave., 7th Floor, New York, NY 10001 in memory of Mrs. Meece.
