Mr. Shirley B. Fincham, age 80, a resident of Valley Head, WV, passed from this life Friday, January 6, 2012, in Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, WV. Shirley was born August 25, 1931, in Adolph, WV, the son of the late Arthur Blaine Fincham and Edith Pearl Armstrong Fincham. He was raised on the farm where he lived the majority of his life. The many years that Shirley resided on the farm gave him his most treasured moments. On Saturday, September 29, 1956, at Mill Creek, Shirley married Georgia Arranna “Annie” Taylor, who preceded him in death May 4, 2010. Also preceding him in death were two daughters, Rhonda Jo Bunnell and Rita Kay Fincham, one son, Preston “Artie” Fincham, three sisters, Pansy Fisher, Opal Taylor and Catherine Fincham, four brothers, Claire Fincham, Neil Fincham, Charles Fincham, and Carl Fincham. Left to cherish Shirley’s memory are seven daughters, Shirley Lanham and husband Robert of Huttonsville, WV, Sharon Matheny and husband Jim of French Creek, WV, Karen Fincham of Valley Head, WV, Faye Jack and husband Clark “Buzz” of Beverly, WV, Brenda Fincham of Mill Creek, WV, Jenny Fincham and companion Dennis Henthorne of Mill Creek, WV and Tammy Currence and husband Buckey of Dailey, WV, two sons, Steve Fincham and wife Debbie of Valley Bend, WV and Jeff Fincham and companion Cheryl Gum of Valley Bend, WV, two brothers, Donald Fincham of OH and Doyle Fincham of Adolph, WV, five sisters, Dottie McCartney, Jeanne Jones, Carolyn King, Patty Rutherford and Linda Fincham all of OH, twenty-two grandchildren and twenty-three great grandchildren. Shirley attended the schools of Randolph County. He was a member of the U.S. Armed Services and served his time during the Korean War. After returning home from his military duties, Shirley and “Annie” began their lives together. Together they raised a family of loving sons and daughters. Shirley worked in the coal mines at Cassidy prior to his career for the Department of Highways in Mill Creek and Coalton. Shirley’s family will forever cherish the wonderful memories that he gave them throughout their lives. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at The Randolph Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 100 Meadow Lane, Valley Bend, WV. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at the funeral home with the Reverend William McCartney and Donald Fincham officiating. Interment will follow the Fincham Chapel Cemetery on the Adolph Road, Mill Creek, WV where members of the H.W. Daniels Post #29, American Legion, the Tygarts Valley Post #3647, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the West Virginia Honor Guard will conduct full military honors.
