Helen Ann Lawrence Gooding, 68, a resident of Blackman Flats, Hambleton, passed from this life early Wednesday morning, February 8, 2012 at her home. She had been in declining health. She was born Sunday, December 26, 1943 at Seneca Rocks, a daughter of the late Gary Lawrence and Sally Reed Lawrence. On January 22, 1971 at Red House, MD, she was married to Harry H. Gooding, who preceded her in death on December 6, 1992. Left to cherish her memory are two daughters, Beverly Klus and husband, Tom of Parsons and Elizabeth Danette McDonald and husband, Wayne of Denham Springs, LA, three grandchildren, Melina Klus of Parsons, and Shelby and Sydney McDonald of Denham Springs, LA, one brother, Gary Lawrence and wife, Gayla of Augusta, one sister, Mary Sue Gross of Cumberland, MD, two sisters-in-law, Cornell Knotts of Sugarlands, and Martha Gibson of Moro, AR, and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death was one sister, Ruth Hendrix. Helen was a graduate of Circleville High School and had worked as a waitress at the 4-u Restaurant in Seneca Rocks before marrying Harry and moving to Parsons. She loved playing with her pride and joy, her granddaughter, Melina. She enjoyed sitting on the porch and visiting with neighbors, and she was an avid cook that enjoyed teaching her daughter, Beverly, everything she knew. She was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Visitation will be held at the Summerfield Funeral Home on Saturday, February 11, 2012 from 11 until 1PM, the funeral hour. The Reverend Mike Lantz will officiate. Interment will follow at the Rose Hill Cemetery at Thomas.
