Eugenia Holland Alden Nelson Powell, age 85, of Elkins, WV, and formerly of Warminister PA, died February 20, 2012, at the Davis Memorial Hospital in Elkins, WV. She had been a resident of the Elkins Rehabilitation and Care Center for the past four years. Eugenia was born on January 12, 1927, in New York, NY, the daughter of Earl Holland and Ruth Sterling Fisk. She was the adopted daughter of Oliver Alden. She was married to Harold Davis “Pat” Powell, Sr., who is deceased, in a ceremony in Rockledge, Florida. Eugenia is survived by four children, Harold Davis Powell, Jr. and wife Beverly of Florida, Deborah Anne Powell of Florida, Scott Blair Powell, Sr. and wife Sherry of Beverly, WV, and Nancy Louise Johnnie and husband Doug of Pennsylvania. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and a very special daughter-in-law Diane L. Powell. Besides her husband and other family members, Eugenia was preceded in death by her great grandson, Logan Storm Powell, and by her grandfather, Eugene Lyman Fisk, an author and the inventor of the blood pressure cuff. Eugenia, whose early years were spent in England, traveled throughout her life. She had owned her own business, a telephone answering service. She was also an employee of Quality Inn, Coco Beach, Florida, serving as front-desk manager for many years. Eugenia’s wishes for cremation will be honored. Graveside services will be held Saturday afternoon, March 10, 2012, at the Abington Friends Cemetery, 520 Meeting House Road, Jenkintown PA, with Reverend Nancy Stroh officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the charity of your choice.
