Coleman Currence, age 82, a lifelong resident of Mill Creek, passed from this life Monday evening, April 16, 2012 at Mon General Hospital in Morgantown. He was born Tuesday, December 10, 1929 at Mill Creek, a son of the late Parley Currence and Effie Rae Lambert Currence Taylor. He was married to the former Marie Louise Lloyd, who preceded him in death. Left to cherish Coleman’s memory are two sons, James Currence and wife, Anita and Denver Lloyd and wife Hazel, both of Mill Creek, two daughters, Patricia Shiflett and husband Roger of Mill Creek, and Patty Johnson and husband, Dalton of Elkins, four half brothers, Don Taylor, Ronald Taylor, Delmer Taylor, and Lawrence Taylor, one half sister, Millie Weese, twenty grandchildren, and thirty-five great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by three sons, Larry Paul Currence, Doyle Currence, and Ralph Lloyd, two daughters, Hilda Gear and Peggy Currence, one brother, Clayton Currence, and one half sister, Idell Moore, and one half brother, Roger Taylor. Coleman attended the schools of Randolph County, had worked for several area saw mills, and had worked at Howell’s Leather Company from which he retired. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing. He especially enjoyed coon hunting. Visitation will be held at the Randolph Funeral Home on Thursday, April 19, 2012 from 11 AM to 1PM, the funeral hour. Pastor Frank Stanley and Elgin Cook will officiate and interment will follow at the Brick Church Cemetery.
