Steve Burdette, 58, a resident of Beverly, passed from this life Tuesday evening, May 15, 2012 at his home. Steve was born Wednesday, January 20, 1954 at Elkins, a son of the late John Burdette, Jr. and Mary Elizabeth Beck Burdette. Surviving Steve are two brothers, John Burdette, III and wife, Wilma, of Beverly and Robbie Burdette and companion, Beverly, of Florida; one sister, Jeannie DeLoach and husband, David, of Port Saint John, Florida; and several nieces and nephews, and his black lab, Ashley. Preceding Steve in death was one sister, Deborah Lynn Lambert. Steve was a graduate of Elkins High School with the class of 1972. After moving to Florida, he worked at various marinas detailing boats and at other various jobs. He greatly enjoyed the ocean and working around the water. He also loved animals and wildlife. Steve’s request for cremation was honored. While there will not be any services locally, Steve’s ashes will be taken to Florida for the purpose of scattering in the ocean. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made in Steve’s memory to the Make-a-wish Foundation of Northern West Virginia, 3711 Morgantown Industrial Park, Morgantown, WV 26501-2347.
