Karen Joy Shrader Cardinal, age 61, a resident of Mill Creek, passed from this life Saturday, May 12, 2012, at the Hospice In-patient Center, Elkins. Karen was born Thursday, November 16, 1950 at Shavers Run near Valley Bend, a daughter of the late James Lee Shrader and Thora Elizabeth Wratchford Shrader. On December 28, 1980 at Newport News, VA, she was married to Michael Paul Cardinal who is ‘surviving’. Karen is also survived by six children, Mary Elizabeth Krenisky and husband, Eric, of Hampton, VA, Paul Edgar Burns, Jr. and wife, Teresa, of Mill Creek, Shannon Webster Burns and fiance`, Stephanie Collins, of Mill Creek, Angela Renee Worthington and husband, Adam, of Fort Knox, KY, Aaron Michael Cardinal, and wife, Deanna, of East Dailey, and Brian Lee Pritt of Hickory, NC, six siblings, Nathan Goff Shrader of Montcalm, Rebecca Susan Lantz of Beverly, Linda Darlene Shrader, Jefferson Mitchell Shrader, Samuel David Shrader, and Kevin Heath Shrader, all of Mill Creek; nine grandchildren, Amanda Dawn Burns, Erica Ann Burns, Candie Renee Krenisky, Desire`e Jordan Burns, Jasmine Love` Burns, Skyler Paige Worthington, Taylor Craig Worthington, Joslyn Paige Cardinal, and Gabriel Michael Cardinal, and two great grandchildren, Kadence Da’shea Watson and Braydan Craig Watson, and several nieces and nephews. Preceding Karen in death was one daughter, Bridget Dawn Burns, two brothers, Gary and Randy Shrader, and one sister, Kimberly Shrader. Karen attended the schools of Randolph County. She was a chef having worked for many local restaurants including the Foxfire Grille at Snowshoe. She was chef of Nella Cucina in Elkins, and owned and operated Cardinal Catering Service. She enjoyed gardening and was a member of the H.W. Daniels Post #29, American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. Visitation will be held at the Randolph Funeral Home on Friday, May 18, 2012 from 6 until 8PM. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home chapel on Saturday, May 19, 2012 at 1PM. Interment will follow at the Wamsley Family Cemetery near Valley Bend.
