Ruth Gear Currence, 87, a resident of Mill Creek, passed from this life late Sunday evening, September 16, 2012 at the Hospice Care Inpatient Center in Elkins. She was born on Tuesday, March 10, 1925 at Huttonsville, a daughter of the late Earnest Gear and Mary Kyle Gear. She was married to Leonard Currence, who preceded her in 1981. Ruth attended the schools of Randolph County, and was the owner / operator of the Mill Creek IGA for many years. She loved reading her Bible, being around children, and eating popcorn. She was a member of the Calvary Assemblies of God in Valley Head. Ruth’s survivors include her granddaughter, Angela Gale Hester, and several nieces and nephews including Sanford Snelson with whom she made her home for the last four years. Ruth was preceded in death by one daughter, Shirley Taylor Hester and was the last surviving member of her immediate family having been preceded in death by five siblings, Robert Gear, Russell Gear, Ralph Gear, Junior Gear, and Gladys Snelson. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at 2PM at Brick Church Cemetery in Huttonsville. Pastor Jack Howell will officiate and interment will follow. The family requests expressions of sympathy in the form of memorial contributions to Tyrand Cooperative Ministries P.O. Box 365 Mill Creek, WV.
