Mary Belle Liggett, 84, a resident of Huttonsville passed from this life, Monday, November 26, 2012 at Holbrook on the Hill in Buckhannon. She was born Monday, August 13, 1928, at Huttonsville, a daughter of the late Austin Earl Liggett and Elva Vada Barrett Liggett. She was never married. Mary is survived by a sister, Emily L. Liggett of Hawaii, a brother-in-law, Loy McAtee of Huttonsville, two sisters-in-law, Nellie Liggett of Huttonsville and Helena Liggett of Elkins, several nieces and nephews, and a special niece who was her care taker, Mary Marcum of Huttonsville. Preceding Mary in death was two brothers, James R. Liggett and Barrett L. Liggett and two sisters, Katheryn A. McAtee and Patti J. Laderach. Mary was a graduate of Tygart Valley High School, and was a school teacher at Rupert, Hillsboro, Marlinton, and Tygarts Valley Junior High retiring in 1987. Most of her years as an educator was spent teaching 8th grade math. She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association of Randolph County, the Randolph County Senior Center, the Eastern Star, and volunteered with Tyrand Cooperative Ministries. She enjoyed sewing and tatting. She was also a member of the Tygarts Valley Presbyterian Church. Mary’s request to donate her body to the Human Gift Registry at WVU was honored. A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 14, 2012 at 7:00PM at the Tygart Valley Presbyterian Church. Reverend Joanne Glaser will officiate. The family has requested that memorial contributions in Mary’s honor be given to the Tygarts Valley Presbyterian Church PO Box 118, Huttonsville, WV 26273 or to Tyrand Cooperative Ministries, PO Box 3675, Mill Creek, WV 26280. The Randolph Funeral Home and Cremation Services has been entrusted with the arrangements for Mary Belle Liggett.
