Junior Cordell Shreves, 84, of Beverly passed away Friday December 28, 2012 at Elkins Rehabilitation and Care Center following an extended illness. He was born Sunday, July 8, 1928 in Mill Creek a son of the late Fred and Bessie Ann Vanpelt Shreves. On December 24, 1954, in Elkins, he was married to the former Nellie Blanche Bright who survives. They enjoyed fifty-eight years of marriage. Also surviving are three daughters, Marlene Landis of Beverly, Charlene Landis and husband, Robert of Beverly, and Debbie Blake and husband Donald of Junior, six grandchildren, Michelle Hammonds, Melissa Smith, Brian Blake, Derrick Blake, Donnie Blake and Darin Blake; and eight great grandchildren, Trevor and Devon Hammonds, Kaila Channell, Kyleigh Smith, Destiney and Jarrett Blake, and Brianna and Cordell Blake. He was also survived by two special life long friends Charlie Landis, Leonard Crites, family friend Glenda Blake, caregiver Lisa Howell and two sisters Leona Winans and Frances Mosser. Preceding him in death besides his parents, were three brothers, Harold, Wilbur and Russell Shreves and one sister Lucille Jordan. Mr. Shreves attended the schools of Randolph County. He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War and worked in the lumber industry from age thirteen through retirement at the age of sixty eight. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, the outdoors, gardening, and spending time with his family. Visitation will be held at the Randolph Funeral Home on Thursday, January 3, 2013 from 11am until 2PM, the funeral hour. Pastor Jon Tanner will officiate and interment will follow at the Mountain State Memorial Gardens where members of the HW Daniels Post #29, American Legion, the Tygart Valley Post #3647, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the WV Honor Guard will conduct full military honors.
