Grover Junior Evans, age 86 years, a resident of Elkins, passed away Monday morning, August 6, 2012 in the Louis A. Johnson Veteran’s Administration Hospital in Clarksburg. He was born October 9, 1925 at Horseshoe Run, Preston County, a son of the late Grover Cleveland Evans and the late Ina Mae Watring Evans. On October 12, 1946 at Red House, MD., he was married to Nada Kitzmiller Evans who survives in Elkins. Also surviving are two sons, Larry Evans and wife Charlene of Elkins and Stanley Evans and wife Roberta of Beverly. One brother, M.V. Evans of Elkins, one sister, Lela Mullenax of Horseshoe Run, Preston County, grandchildren, Ginger Fox and husband Eric, Sena Lamarne and husband Junior, S. Clark Evans and wife Amber, Elliott Evans and great grandchildren, Samantha Fox and Devan Lamarne also survive. Also preceding him in death were one brother, Orville Evans and four sisters, Geneva Feathers, Joyce Lantz, Mary Hauser and Josephine Roth. Mr. Evans was a graduate of Aurora High School and a Veteran of the United States Navy serving as a Radio Operator during World War II. In 1980, he opened Evans T.V. and remained active in the operation of the business for many years. He was a member of the Wayside United Methodist Church and H.W. Daniels Post 29 American Legion. Friends may call from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, August 9th from the funeral home chapel with Pastor Bobbie Rogers officiating. Interment will follow in the American Legion’s Little Arlington Cemetery where full military rites will be accorded at the gravesite by members of the United States Navy, H.W Daniels Post 29 American Legion and Tygart Valley Post 3647 Veterans of Foreign Wars. The Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins is in charge of the arrangements for Grover Junior Evans.
