Mr. Richard William Phares, age 82 years, a resident of Baltimore, MD, passed away Thursday evening, December 20, 2012 in the Hospice Care Regional Inpatient Unit in Elkins. He was born March 8, 1930 in Elkins a son of the late Helen Winifred Wyatt and Marshall Samuel Phares. He was married to Hilda Mae Thompson Phares who preceded him in death. Surviving are one son, Michael Richard Phares and wife Sandra, Bowden, a daughter, Vickie Lynn Phares Burge, Elkins, a grandson, Michael Allen Phares and wife Sara, a granddaughter, Stephanie Nicole Burge, a great granddaughter, Samantha Michelle Phares and a great grandson, Austin Michael Phares of Elkins. Also surviving is one sister, Wanda Phares Basil, a nephew, Gordon Basil and wife Connie and a niece, Elaine Griesel and husband Edward, all of Elkins. Mr. Phares was employed as a Taxi Driver in Baltimore, MD for numerous companies for over forty years. Friends may call from 9:30 am until 11:00 am Monday, December 24, 2012 at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Monday from the funeral home chapel with Rev. Dr. Marvin L. Parli officiating. Interment will follow in the Mountain State Memorial Gardens near Gilman. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Care Corporation, 169 Diamond St., Elkins, WV 26241 in memory of Mr. Phares.
