Martha Alice Hovey 1937-2012 Obituary
Martha “Alice” Hovey Martha Alice Hovey, 74, of Belington and Mantua, Oh., died Friday evening, June 1, at her Belington home, following an extended illness.
She was born September 9, 1937, at Philippi, a daughter of the late Hugh Branson Baughman and the late Mary Susan (Gainer) Baughman Phillips.
On June 10, 1956, at the Cross Roads Methodist Church, she was married to Harvey James “Jim” Hovey, who survives at Belington and Mantua.
Also surviving are three daughters, Deborah K. Orzechowski and husband, Richard, Angela K. Rang and husband, Eric, all of Mantua, Oh., Mary K. McFarland and husband, Michael, Streetsboro, Oh.; three grandchildren, Brian Anthony Orzechowski and wife, Brittany, Katie Jelaine Orzechowski and fiancé, Joshua Mortus, Brandon Michael McFarland and wife, Lacey; an expected great grandchild, Jonah Anthony Orzechowski; two sisters, Mary Frances Stiles and husband, John, Tallahassee, Fla., Sara Childs and husband, Dick, Forest Hill, Md.; three brothers-in-law, William (Deanna) Hovey, Philippi, Edward (Dot) Hovey, Greenville, S.C., and David (Sandy) Hovey, Smithville, Va. She was also preceded in death by her step-father, Bernard Doyle Phillips and by a step-sister, Rosemary (Phillips) Leaseburg Wilson.
Mrs. Hovey was a graduate of Philippi High School and the Mountain State Business College, Parkersburg, W.Va.
She was retired as Export Manager from Bird Electronics.
She was a member of the West Side United Methodist Church and James Barbour Chapter, N.S.D.A.R.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, June 4, from the Schoonover – Stemple Funeral Chapel, 609 Crim Avenue, Belington, W.Va.
Pastor Judy Flynn will officiate and interment will follow in the Cross Roads Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 3:00 until 8:00 P.M. on Sunday and from 9:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M., the funeral hour, on Monday.
The Schoonover – Stemple Funeral Chapel was entrusted with arrangements.
