OBITUARY: EFFIE MARIE CHAPMAN Effie Marie Chapman, 63, a resident of 4 – H Road, Philippi, died Monday evening, January 23, at her home, following an extended illness. She was born December 17, 1948, at Philippi, a daughter of the late Kent Taylor Evans Jr. and the late Elizabeth Amanda (Corley) Evans. On August 16, 1967, in Ft. Foote, MD, she was married to Joseph Dean Chapman, who survives at their 4-h Road home. Also surviving are one son, Joseph Dean Chapman, Jr., Emmaus, PA; four sisters, Jane Ann Weese, Philippi, Judy Fay Marsh, Belington, Mary Ann Lake, Hillsboro, OH, Janet Lynn Auvil, Wilmington, NC; one brother, Bruce Allen Evans, Philippi. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Christina Ellen Chapman; and by two brothers, Robert Taylor Evans and Thomas Kent Evans. Mrs. Chapman was a seamstress and was a former employee of Reidbord Brothers Manufacturing. She was a member of the Silent Grove Church and Philippi Chapter #41, O.E.S. She enjoyed collecting Longaberger. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, January 28, 2012 from the Schoonover – Stemple Funeral Chapel, 609 Crim Avenue, Belington. Pastor Bryan Headley will officiate and interment will follow in the Barbour Memorial Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4:00 until 9:00 P.M., on Friday and from 9:00 A.M. until 2:00 P.M., the funeral hour, on Saturday. The family requests memorials in the form of contributions to the Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center or the Rosenbaum Family House, both in Morgantown or the local Relay for Life.
