OBITUARY: SAMMY LEE KENNEDY Sammy Lee Kennedy, 69, of Philippi, died Thursday, October 17, as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident near Philippi. He was born April 12, 1944, at Morgantown, a son of the late William Arthur and Devon (Norris) Kennedy. His wife, the former Rosetta Mayle, preceded him in death on July 4, 2011. Surviving are two daughters, Tracy Croston, Canton, Oh., Tammy Amos, Malvern, Oh.; two sons, Larry Edward Kennedy, Malvern, Hubert Lee Kennedy, Philippi; six sisters, Mary Tincher, Dora Jean Mayle and Irene Mayle, all of Canton, Linda Mayle, New Philadelphia, Oh., Janet Minard, Grafton and Edith McCartney, Minerva, Oh.; three brothers, Norman Thomas Kennedy and William Junior Kennedy, both of Canton, Arthur Gerald Kennedy, Newcomerstown, Oh.; seven grandchildren, Delbert junior Croston, Haley Stewart, Samuel Croston, Alexandra Croston, Tyler Mayle, Amanda Croston and Hannah Amos; two great grandchildren, Logan Stewart and Eithan Nupp. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Hubert Kennedy. Mr. Kennedy was a former construction laborer. He was a member and former Business Agent for Laborer’s Local 1015 in Canton. He was a founder of the Alleghenny Nation, Ohio Band, Indian Community Center. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, October 22, from the Stemple & Forman Funeral Home, 385 South Main Street, Philippi. The Rev. Ezik Norris will officiate and interment will follow in the W.Va. National Cemetery, where military rites will be conferred. Friends may call at the funeral home from 11:00 A. M. until the 1:00 P.M. funeral hour on Tuesday. Stemple & Forman Funeral Home was entrusted with arrangements.
