Obituary: Geraldine V. Combs Geraldine Virgie Combs, 83, of Akron, Oh., experienced the sunset of her life on Tuesday, November 26, 2013, at her childhood home on Midway Road, Belington. Her sunrise to life was on February 2, 1930, at Kasson, Barbour County, when she was born to Britton and Allie (Haller) Poling. Her husband Ralph Glenwood Combs, preceded her in death on June 15, 1994. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Paul Poling and by his wife, Lillian. Survivors include one daughter, Judy L. Batton and husband, Jim, Akron; a brother, Ray Poling and wife, Peggy, Zepher Hills, Fla.; and two loving granddaughters, Jennifer Batton, Peninsula, Oh., Jacqueline Batton, Brooklyn, N.Y. Mrs. Combs retired as the Plant Manager for R. G. Soane Corp. a plastics manufacturer in Cleveland, Oh. She was a member of the Akron Baptist Temple. She was a gifted artist who preferred working oil paints. She enjoyed farming and just being outdoors. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, December 1, 2013, from the Schoonover – Stemple Funeral Chapel, 609 Crim Avenue, Belington, W.Va. Pastor Downing Gregory will officiate and interment will follow in the Shiloh Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home for one hour prior to services (1:00 until 2:00 P.M.). At Mrs. Combs’ request her casket will remain closed. The Schoonover – Stemple Funeral Chapel was entrusted with arrangements.
