Carlton Fred McCauley 1923-2013 Obituary
Carlton Fred McCauley, age 90 years, a resident of Elkins, WV departed this life Wednesday evening, December 25, 2013 at the Valentines Personal Care Home at Elkins, WV.
He had been in declining health for the past five years.
He was born Friday, March 2, 1923 at Belington, WV a son of the late Dock Blain and Esta Talbott McCauley.
On January 15, 1944 at Belington, WV he was married to the former Helen Arlene Phares, who survives.
Also surviving are one son, David Allen McCauley and wife Jody, Buckhannon; two grandchildren, Matthew; and Angela McCauley; and several nieces and nephews.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. P
receding him in death was one son, Barry Douglas McCauley; three brothers, Arlington; Taylor; and John McCauley; and three sisters, Cleo Zirkle; Ava Simpson; and Elsie Rickett.
He was a graduate of Belington High School with the Class of 1941 of which he was a member of the marching band.
He had worked as a salesman for the former Shingleton Wholesale Produce Company at Clarksburg for twenty-six years and was the Assistant Manager of the Farm Credit Bureau at Elkins for seventeen years, retiring in 1983.
He was a cattleman, enjoyed hunting deer and turkey, and was an avid gardener.
He was a member of the Elkins-randolph County Senior Center, where he was known as a noted pool shot and the Woodford Memorial United Methodist Church for many years.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home from 5 to 8 PM, Saturday.
Final Rites will be conducted at the funeral home, Sunday, December 29, 2013 at 1:30 PM.
The Rev. Dr. Basil A. Hensley will officiate and interment will follow at the Concord Cemetery near Belington, WV.
