Dale Dean Chipps, Jr. age 66 years, a former resident of Kerens, WV and of Bridgeport, WV and more recently Fort Myers, FL departed this life Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at his home. He had been in his usual health and death was unexpected.
He was born on August 20, 1946 at Elkins, WV a son of the late Dale Dean Chipps, Sr. who preceded him in death on February 3rd 2013 and Mildred Louise Poling Chipps.
He is survived by a son, Matthew Chipps, Bridgeport; a daughter, Lory Dillon and her husband Tyler, Marco Island, FL; three grandchildren, Hannah, Tyler Jr., and Jackson Dillon; a brother, Thomas S. Chipps and his wife Jane, Daniels; a niece, Ashley Chipps, two nephews, Jason and Joshua Chipps, and his first wife, Donna Chipps. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two nieces, Carey Chipps and Kelly Chipps.
Dean was a graduate of Elkins High School with the class of 1964 and West Virginia University with honors in 1968. He was an engineer for the WV Division of Highways for over 44 years, retiring in 2011. He was a member of the Bridgeport United Methodist Church and the former Harts Chapel United Methodist Church at Kerens. He was an avid WVU sports fan and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Most recently Dean enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren in Florida.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins on Monday March 11 from 12 noon until 1 p.m. when a funeral ceremony will be celebrated with the Rev. Kevin Gainer officiating and interment will follow at the Israel Cemetery at Kerens, WV.
