Dollie Gray Mullennex Landsberry Yokum, age 86 years, a former resident of Harman, WV and more recently a resident of the Mapleshire Nursing and Rehabilitation Center at Morgantown, WV went to be with her Lord and Savior on Easter Sunday afternoon, March 31, 2013 at the Ruby Memorial Hospital at Morgantown, WV. She had been in declining health for the past two years.
She was born Friday, February 25, 1927 at Elkins, WV a daughter of the late Martin Mullennex, Jr., and Olive Gladys Mallow Mullennex. She was twice married. First to Edward Landsberry, who survives at Ohio. Second to Homer John Yokum, who preceded her in death. Surviving are two daughters, Joan Markus and husband Joe, Morgantown; Alexandra Hurley, St. Louis, MO; six grandchildren, Randy Henderson and fiancée Renee, Harman; Ashley Nicole Markus, Morgantown; Cherri Geaschel and husband Jim, Rockford, IL; Tim Senic and wife Susan; and Michael Senic and wife Cheryl, all of Elkins; Heidi Heine and husband Steve, St. Louis, MO; seven great grandchildren, Daniel; and Michael Geaschel; Nicholas; Amanda Rose; and Jessica Heine; Jordan Michael; and Rachel Senic.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Preceding her in death are one brother, John Wesley Mullennex; and one sister, Gelda Gay Cooper.
Dollie was a graduate of Harman High School with the Class of 1946, was a homemaker as well as a loving caregiver to her parents for many years. She was a devout Christian, having been a member of the Whitmer Church of God and the Harman Church of the Brethren. She enjoyed her grandchildren; shopping, cooking, birds and working in her flower gardens. The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Mapleshire Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for their kindness and attention to Mrs. Yokum.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins from 5 to 8 PM, Wednesday. Final Rites will be conducted at the funeral home, Thursday, April 4, 2013 at 2 PM. The Rev. Todd Rhodes will officiate and interment will follow at the Mountain State Memorial Gardens at Gilman, WV.
