ALBERT LEE “PETE” CARR, age 79 years, a resident of Parsons, WV departed this life Sunday morning, April 21, 2013 at Cortland Acres at Thomas, WV. He had been in declining health for the past three years.
He was born Wednesday April 11, 1934 at Bowden, WV a son of the late Albert Lee Carr and Florence Summerfield Carr. On May 31, 1957 at Ellicott, MD, he was married to the former Bessie Lee White, who survives at Parsons. They had celebrated fifty five years of marriage.
Also surviving are one son, Donald Ray “Duck” Carr and wife Rachel of Parsons; three daughters, Carol Ann Wolford and husband Ed of Mt. Zion, Carolyn Lee Shahan and companion Dwight Bright of Hendricks and Donna Mae Morrison and husband Kenneth “K.C.” of Parsons; five brothers, Keith Carr and wife Delores of Ellenboro, WV, Richard Carr and wife Louise of Dailey, WV, Clarence Carr and wife Pat of Clinton, OH, Neal Carr and wife Charlotte of Triadelphia, WV and Doil Carr and wife Nancy of Durbin, WV; three sisters, Bonnie White of Valley Bend, Janet Fox of Virginia Beach, VA and Evelyn Sipe of Valley Bend; seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Barbara Akright and two grandsons.
He attended the schools of Randolph Co. He first worked in a logging camp, and then worked for the National Can Co. of Baltimore, MD. He returned to Parsons, where he was a former employee of the Kingsford Charcoal Co. He retired at a machine operator for the West Virginia Dept. of Highways with thirty one and a half years of service. He was an avid hunter and loved to camp.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Tuesday from 5 to 8 PM. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home parlor on Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at 2 PM. Rev. Pat Cassidy will officiate and interment will follow at the Bethel Cemetery at Holly Meadows.
