IVA JUNE SPARKS KUMP, age 94 years, a resident of Poquoson, VA departed this life Friday evening, July 19, 2013 at the Retreat Hospital at Richmond, VA. She had been in declining health.
She was born Tuesday, June 17, 1919 at Connellsville, PA a daughter of the late Roy and Luzetta Beale Sparks. She was married to Benjamin Franklin Kump, II, who preceded her in death September 5, 1999. Surviving are two sons, Benjamin Franklin Kump, III, and wife Ann of Apple Valley, CA; Christopher B. Kump and wife Laura Ann, of Richmond, VA; two daughters, Betty Scott Spaulding, of Chattanooga, TN; Marcia Mitchell of Charlottesville, VA; eight grandchildren; and several great grandchildren.
Preceding her in death are two brothers and three sisters.
She graduated from High School in Washington, DC and was a graduate of Sonoma State College at Sonoma, CA. She was a retired school teacher, having taught in the Poquoson City School System and was a member of the Tabernacle United Methodist Church at Poquoson, VA. She loved to dance, play bridge and visit with family.
A Graveside Service will be held Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at 2 PM at the Beverly Cemetery at Beverly, WV. The Rev. JoAnne Glaser will officiate and interment will follow.
