HUBERT L. HEDRICK, age 83 years, a resident of the Pheasant Run Community, Kerens, WV departed this life Sunday evening, July 28, 2013 at Cortland Acres at Thomas, WV. He had been in declining health for the past nine months.
He was born Tuesday, December 10, 1929 at Onego, WV a son of the late William Frank and Gladys L. Sharp Hedrick. Surviving are one son, Randy Hedrick and wife Elizabeth Agnes, of Camden, SC; one daughter, Brenda Roddy, of Elgin, SC; three brothers, Bert Hedrick, of Parsons; Blair Hedrick and wife Judy, of Conneaut, OH; Dale Hedrick and wife Frances, of Rivesville, WV; and four sisters, Otta Sue Ashby and husband Frank, of Parsons; Johannah Nelson, of Kerens; Annis Dell Combs, of Manassas, VA; and Linda Canfield and husband Charles, Pheasant Run.
Preceding him in death are his longtime companion, Ann Dennison; two brothers, Johnny; and Chester Hedrick; and one sister, Gertrude Carr.
He attended the schools of Tucker County, and was a veteran of the U. S. Army, serving during the Korean War. He was an employee of the former Parsons Tannery and retired as a correctional officer for the Davis Center at Davis, WV. He was a member of the Pythagoras Lodge # 128, A.F. & A.M. and enjoyed farming, gardening and the outdoors. He was a Christian by faith. The family would like to thank the staff of Cortland Acres for their compassion and care of Mr. Hedrick.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons from 5 to 8 PM, Thursday. Final Rites will be conducted at the funeral home parlor, Friday, August 2, 2013 at 11:30 AM. Pastor Allen D. Crosten will officiate and interment will follow at the Kalar Cemetery on the Government Road.
