LAWRENCE DOYLE ENDS, age 69 years, a resident of Parsons, WV departed this life Tuesday evening, August 20, 2013 at the Hospice Care Regional Inpatient Center at Elkins, WV, with his family at his side.
He was born Wednesday, January 12, 1944 at Pifer Mountain, St. George, WV, a son of the late Doyle Cleophas and Lalah Nan Jones Ends. On June 18, 1966 at Parsons, WV, he was married to the former Catherine Elizabeth “Katie” Mason, who survives. They had celebrated forty seven years of marriage.
Also surviving are one son, Jason Lawrence Ends and wife Rhonda and one daughter, Jennifer Ann Ends, all of Parsons; three brothers, Paul “Donnie” Ends and wife Betty of Pifer Mountain, Sherley Ends and wife Jane of Parsons, Scotty Ends and wife Gloria of Hagerstown, MD; two sisters, Irene DeMoss and husband Charles of OH, Dottie Sponaugle and husband Bryan of Pifer Mountain; and one granddaughter, Sadie Elizabeth Ends.
He was a graduate of Parsons High School with the Class of 1963. He was a carpenter working in Virginia and an employee for the former Carl Nestor Construction Co. He worked as a supply clerk for various coalmines and operated Kidwell’s Auto Parts Store in Thomas. He worked for the former Wamsley’s Construction. In 1985, he founded Ends Construction, later known as L.E. Construction, Inc. At the time of his retirement, he was maintenance supervisor for the Y.M.C.A. Camp Horseshoe. He was an avid gardener, enjoyed canning and reading the Daily Guidepost. He was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church of which he was a member of the choir and a member of the I.O.O.F. Lodge #103 at Davis, WV.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Friday from 5 to 8 PM. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home parlor on Saturday, August 24, 2013 at 11 AM. The Rev. Philip Dent will officiate and interment will follow at the Parsons City Cemetery at Parsons, WV.
