Margaret June Eicher Crosby, age 89 years, a resident of Elkins, WV departed this life Sunday September 1, 2013 at the Davis Memorial Hospital in Elkins. She had been in her usual health and death was unexpected.
She was born Monday, September 1, 1924 at Mannsville, PA a daughter of the late Wade Cecil Eicher and Matilda Viola Kuhns Eicher. On August 27, 1942 at Winchester, VA she was married to Clarence Edward Crosby, who preceded her in death. Surviving are one son Clarence W. “Buck” Crosby of Hubert, NC; three daughters B.J. Crosby McKenzie and husband Ronald R. “Mac” McKenzie, of Elkins, WV; Janet Marie Crosby, of Columbia, SC; Penny Lynn Crosby Vanbibber and husband Gene of Gainesville, TN; one sister Mary “Jane” Tenny; twelve grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.
Preceding her in death are one son Gary Lee Crosby; four brothers Thomas; James; Wayne; and Raymond Eicher; three sisters Martha “Sweetie” Wilson; Ella “Mae” Barkley; and Virginia Wood.
Mrs. Crosby attended Hurst High School in Mt. Pleasant, PA, graduating with the class of 1942. She attended the First Baptist Church of Elkins. Before making her home in Elkins she was a member of the Lycippus Methodist Church in PA where she was a lay speaker and helped with various activities involving the church. She worked for a number of years at Browns Market in Pleasant Unity, PA and Ferlin’s Market in Mammoth, PA. She also worked at various restaurants and a 5 and Dime store in, Latrobe, PA. In her spare time she was an angler, as fishing was her passion.
Mrs. Crosby’s request for cremation was honored. The Family will receive friends on Thursday evening September 5 at 6:00 pm. At 7:30pm a celebration of Mrs. Crosby’s life will be conducted The Rev Joe Wolfe will preside. On Saturday September 7th at 11 am a graveside service will be conducted at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, at Mt. Pleasant, PA with a reception to follow at Bell Memorial Church at Latrobe, PA. The family suggests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of contributions to a local children’s charity.
