ESTELLE GENEVIEVE KITCHEN “GENNY” MACVEAN, age 81 years, a resident of Elkins, WV departed this life Wednesday afternoon, August 21, 2013 at the Elkins Rehabilitation & Care Center at Elkins, WV.
She was born Saturday, February 13, 1932 at Gemoca, WV a daughter of the late Edward Alexander and Thelma Charline Fink Kitchen. On March 20, 1954 at Oakland, MD she was married to Donald Owens MacVean, who survives. Also surviving are one daughter, Ruth Ellen Peters and husband Rex, Bridgewater, VA.
Preceding her in death are one sister, Carole Yvonne Kaylor.
Genny was a graduate of Ansted High School at Ansted, WV with the Class of 1950 and was a graduate of the Davis Memorial Hospital School of Nursing with the Class of 1953. She was a Registered Nurse having worked at the Davis Memorial Hospital for many years, the former Memorial General Hospital and the former Elkins Convalescent Home. She was a member of the Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church and enjoyed knitting and camping.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins from 5 to 8 PM, Saturday. On Sunday, August 25, 2013 Mrs. MacVean will be moved to the Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church where friends may call from 1 to 2 PM. At 2 PM, Sunday, a funeral service will be held at the church. Bishop Alex Black will officiate and interment will follow at the Mountain State Memorial Gardens at Gilman, WV.
