Elsie Myrie Ford See, 75, a resident of Huttonsville, passed from this life Sunday, January 25, 2015 at home after a courageous three year battle with cancer. Elsie was born Monday, March 13, 1939 in Gilmer, a daughter of the late Luther Allen Ford and Reva Erma Ball Ford. Elsie’s family moved to Point Mountain in the 1940’s and a few years later settled on Turkey Bone Rd in Monterville. On February 15, 1956, Elsie met the love of her life at a Valentine dance at the Monterville grade school. That gentleman was Darrell K. See, who survives in Huttonsville. On December 23, 1956, Elsie and Darrell were united in marriage. They celebrated 58 years of marriage. Also left to cherish Elsie’s memory are two children, Connie J. Basil and husband Gordon of Laurel Mtn Rd. and Dorse A. See and wife Cheryl of Huttonsville, two grandsons, Allen D. and Keith Lee See of Huttonsville, one step granddaughter, Vada J. Mallow and husband Jerry, one step great grandson, Zachary L. Mallow, one step great granddaughter, Ashley L. Mallow, all of Laurel Mtn Rd., one special adopted granddaughter, Danelle Rohrbaugh of Huttonsville, five siblings, Charles “Sonny” Ford and wife Loretta of Mill Creek, Carol Day and husband Arvin of Augusta,GA, Isalee Graves and husband Charles “Chuck” of Marysville, WA, Joan Acord and husband Wonnie of Fairdale, Pearlene Pauley and husband William “Bill” of Elkins, one sister in law, Sue Ford of Dailey and several nieces and nephews. Preceding Elsie in death besides her parents are two grandchildren, Forest Nathan and Logan Michael See and one brother, Henry Allen Ford. Elsie attended Tygarts Valley High School. She was a homemaker, a farmer’s wife, mother, grandmother and a friend to all. Elsie had been employed as a rural mail carrier from Huttonsville to Marlinton from 1974-1978 and then a postal clerk in Huttonsville for seven years. She owned and operated the Pizza and Sub Shoppe in Valley Head in the 80’s. She was known for her cake decorating skills. Elsie was actively involved in community affairs including the Valley Head Homecoming and the Allegheny Mingo Wool Fair. Elsie was a member of the Rebekah’s. She had been a Grand Noble and was treasurer up to the time of her illness. She was a member of the board of trustees for the Valley Head Cemetery and the Valley Head Library. Elsie never met a stranger and always enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Elsie’s request for cremation will be honored.
