Jack Delmas Giles 1936-2015 Obituary
Jack Delmas Giles, 78, a resident of Elkins, passed from this life Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at Colonial Place in Elkins.
Jack was born Thursday, September 17, 1936 in Weston, a son of the late Dorris D. Giles and Mary Rose Cox Giles.
On December 1, 1956 in Fairmont, he married the former Virginia Jane Bordenet, who survives in Elkins. A
lso left to cherish Jack’s memory are two children, Suzanne Danene Lafferty of North Carolina and Christopher Neil Giles and wife, Kelly of Georgia, one brother George W. Giles of Weston, and four grandchildren, Caitlin Lafferty of North Carolina, Emily Rose Giles, Alexandra Giles, and Jack Giles, all of Georgia.
Jack was a graduate of Weston High School with the class of 1955, had worked as a store manager of Sears & Roebuck for five years, had owned and operated The Colony Shop in Elkins for twenty years, and until his retirement in 2012, he worked as a real estate agent and appraiser owning and operating Jack D. Giles Appraisal Service.
He was a past member of the Elkins Lions Club and Buckhannon ELKS Club and was a member of St. Brendan Catholic Church.
Jack was an antique car and sports enthusiast, being an avid WV Mountaineer and Pittsburgh Pirates fan.
He loved golf, built beautiful furniture, and was a gifted storyteller.
He was very involved in coaching church league basketball and little league baseball. Jack’s request for cremation was honored.
Friends will be received at St. Brendan Catholic Church on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 from 11AM until 12:30PM. At 12:30PM, a memorial mass will be celebrated with the Very Reverend Father Donald X. Higgs, V.F.
