Delmar Martin, 77, a resident of Mill Creek, passed from this life Sunday, April 19, 2015 at Davis Medical Center in Elkins. Delmar was born Monday, February 14, 1938 in Beverly, a son of the late Jack Martin and Maggie Pritt Martin. On July 24, 1961 at Dry Run, he was married to the former Virginia Ruth McCauley, who survives. Also left to cherish Delmar’s memory are nine children, Darrell Martin and wife, Diana of Mill Creek, Dextor Martin and wife, Kathy of Indian Lick, Franklin McCauley of Mill Creek, Michael and wife Felina of Mill Creek, Ada Henline and husband, Dave of Mill Creek, Tammy Smith and husband, Terry of Hedgesville, Kathy Harris and husband, Gary of Adolph, and Delmar Lee Martin and wife, Becky of Mill Creek, Margaretta Dean and husband Vinton of Mill Creek, one brother, Nippy Martin, two sisters, Susan Poling and husband, Bobby and Caroline Gear, all of Mill Creek, fifteen grandchildren, William, Maggie, Michael Jr., Alexander, Nakeisha, Dextor Jr., Shala, Sherita, Lexus, Cheyenne, Briana, Darrell Jr., Jonathan, David and Julie, fifteen great grandchildren, Donna, Chris, Cheyenne, Laken, Gary, Kelly, Haily, Kaylee, Aron, Ashley, Jacob, Isaac, Tyler, Emily, and Gage, one sister in law, Emily Martin, and several nieces and nephews. Preceding Delmar in death were three brothers, John, Joseph, and Howard, four sisters, Orpha McGee, Mildred Bailor, Alpha “Dink” Currence, an infant sister, Bessie Martin and one grandson, Franklin. Delmar attended the schools of Randolph County and had worked as a lumberman and for the WV Dept. of Highways. Walking through the woods watching the deer was the way he hunted, and he also enjoyed fishing, digging ramps, and just being outdoors. He loved spending time with his family, and his grandchildren and great grandchildren were his pride and joy. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 22, 2015 from 11AM until 1PM, the funeral hour. Rev. Tristan Tenney will officiate and interment will follow at the Martin Family Cemetery at Dry Run.
