William Bill Arnold Chandler 1931-2015 Obituary
William “Bill” Arnold Chandler, 84, a resident of Dailey, passed from this life Thursday, April 30, 2015 at home surrounded by his loving family. Bill was born Sunday, January 11, 1931 in Suncrest, a son of the late James Hartzel Chandler and Carrie Marguerite Arnold Chandler. On August 18, 1950, in Beverly, he married the former Emogene Merle Gear who preceded him in death in 2013. Left to cherish Bill’s memory are three children, Debra Colleen Knighten and husband Carl of IL, Kevin Michael Chandler and wife Pam of Dailey and Alan Wayne Chandler and wife Trish of Dailey, six siblings, John Chandler of SC, Tom Chandler and wife Mary of Masontown, Jerry Chandler and wife Olive of GA, Peggy Bracken of FL, Sue Chandler of GA and Marcia Swoger and husband Tim of GA, fourteen grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Preceding Bill in death besides his parents and wife were two infant brothers, James Chandler Jr. and Hartzel Chandler, one brother, Bob Chandler and one sister, Lois Gum. Bill attended the schools of Randolph County and was a graduate of Tygarts Valley High School Class of 1948. He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force from 1952-1974 and retired as a Chief Master Sergeant after twenty two years of service. Bill enjoyed the outdoors. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and enjoyed the time he spend at Clay Run Hunting Property with his buddies. The time Bill spent with his grandchildren and great grandchildren brought him much enjoyment. A visitation will be held Sunday, May 3, 2015 from Noon until 1PM, the funeral hour. Rev. Kevin Starcher will officiate and interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery in Dailey.
