Betty Elizabeth Catherine Watring Miller, 78, a resident of the Pifer Mountain Community, passed from this life late Sunday evening, June 7, 2015 at her home. She had been in declining health. Betty was born Tuesday, October 6, 1936 in Ervin, a daughter of the late John Joseph Watring and Vernie Eva Lipscomb Watring. She was married to Carl Miller who preceded her in death, and is survived by her companion of thirty-six years, Jerry Vanscoy. Others left to cherish her memory are six siblings, Eugene Watring of Tennessee, Lena Likens and Alex “Sam” Watring, both of Rowlesburg, George “Tom” Watring of Kingwood, Doris Godwin of the Pifer Mountain Community, and Mary Arbogast and husband, Leo of Rowlesburg, several nieces and nephews and several great nieces and great nephews. Preceding Betty in death was an infant child, two sisters in law, Juanita Watring and Betty Watring, and one brother in law, Dennis Godwin. Betty attended the schools of Preston County and was a homemaker. She enjoyed sewing, word searches, taking walks, and she loved her animals. A visitation will be held at Summerfield Funeral Home on Wednesday from 6P-8P. Funeral services will be conducted from the funeral home chapel Thursday, June 11, 2015 at 1:00P. Pastor Carolyn Shreve will officiate and interment will follow in the Mouse Cemetery in Cravensdale.
