Alvin Franklin “Al” Tenney, 76, a resident of Houston, TX, passed from this life Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at home. Al was born Wednesday, January 4, 1939 in Persinger, a son of the late Dorse Tenney and Delsie Helmick Tenney Brady and step father, Arlo Brady. On October 6, 1959, he married Elvira Wolf who survives. Left to cherish Al’s memory are five children, Ramona Bryant and husband Jeff, Donald Tenney, Thomas Tenney, Brenda Graham and husband Darwin Castleschouldt and Mark Tenney, all of TX, three siblings, Weldon “Bud” Tenney of OH, Louise Long and Dale Tenney, both of Valley Bend, nine grandchildren, Devin, Trysten, Amanda, Travis, Dylan, Taylor, Clayton, Aja and Colin and two great grandchildren, Damien and Carmen. Al attended the schools of Randolph County and proudly served in the U.S. Army. He was employed as an RV and auto mechanic for most of his career, owning his own repair shop for three years. Al was a hard worker and in his free time enjoyed the outdoors and camping. He enjoyed drawing, was a great story teller and always had a joke to tell. He loved country music and watching old westerns. Al was an excellent father and provider who was kind hearted and always helped others. In his younger years, he loved to play guitar and write his own songs which he submitted to Nashville. Al joined the army at seventeen years old. The day he was waiting for the bus to leave for the Army, he received word that Nashville wanted to use one his songs. He looked at his mother and said, “I’m going to join the Army!” Al was a Methodist by faith. Al’s body will return to West Virginia and interment will follow in Jerusalem Cemetery in Mill Creek.
