Robert Lee Brown 1930-2015 Obituary
Robert Lee Brown, 84, a resident of Valley Bend, passed from this life Friday, June 12, 2015 at home surrounded by family.
Robert was born Wednesday, July 9, 1930 in Huttonsville, a son of the late Albert Brown and Odessa Rush Brown.
On June 4, 1955, in Baltimore, MD, he married the former Gladys “Ruby” Fincham who preceded him in death on October 20, 2014.
Left to cherish Robert’s memory are three daughters, Janice Brown of Valley Bend, Jacqueline Baker and husband Dale of TN and June Young and husband Michael of MD, three sisters, Betty Hill of Jane Lew, Bessie Fincham of MD and Phyllis Knaggs of GA, six grandchildren, Roy Furrow, Courtney Voydik, Casey and Brady Baker and Matthew and Mitchell Stewart, and two great grandchildren, Alexa McClaran and Sadie Stewart. Preceding Robert in death besides his parents and wife were five siblings, Ralph, James, Pete, Mabel and Helen and one grandchild, Lindsey Stewart. Robert attended the schools of Randolph County and had been employed at Valley Protein.
He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He was an avid reader and loved to watch Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. Robert loved to sit on his back porch, looking at the mountains and visiting with neighbors. Robert’s request for cremation will be honored.
Robert’s and Ruby’s cremains will be inurned in the National Cemetery in Grafton.
