Earl Franklin “Joey” Woods, Jr., 43, a resident of Valley Head, passed from this life Thursday, June 11, 2015. He had been in his usual health and death was unexpected. Joey was born Thursday, January 20, 1972 in Elkins, a son of Ronald and Debra Bennett who survive in Valley Head and Joe and Francis Woods who survive on Poe Run. On July 22, 1999, in Junior, he married the former Glada Jo Rutherford who survives in Valley Head. Also left to cherish his memory are two children, Joshua Paul Woods and fiancé Shannon Hancock and Elizabeth Nicole Woods, all of Valley Head, one brother, Paul Bradley Woods and wife Jennifer of Mill Creek, one sister, Danell Sweitzer of PA and several nieces and nephew that he adored. Preceding Joey in death was one infant daughter, Roberta Ann Woods. Joey attended the schools of Randolph County and had been employed as a carpenter for Clifford Biller Contruction in Elkins. He was an avid fisherman and hunter that lived for deer season. When talking about his son Josh, Joey always said, “I don’t have to train a hunting and fishing buddy, I’m raising him.” Joey loved to go ginsenging and was happiest in the woods or by the river. He was proud of both his kids who were his pride and joy. A graveside service will be conducted Wednesday, June 17, 2015 in Trinity Cemetery on Georgetown Road in Beverly.
