Nippy Elvis Martin Sr 1943-2015 Obituary
Nippy Elvis Martin Sr., 72, a resident of Mill Creek, passed from this life Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at home surrounded by family.
Nippy was born Tuesday, June 8, 1943 in Dailey, a son of the late Jack Martin and Maggie Pritt Martin.
On November 2, 1975, in Mill Creek, he married to the former Teresa Grey who preceded him in death.
Left to cherish his memory are six children, Leslie Aaron Martin-bennett and husband Tony of Rock Cave, Brenda Fincham and husband David, his first son in law, of Dailey, Rebecca Martin of Mill Creek, Linda Nelson and husband Eric of Elkins, Margaret Fortney Beverly and Nippy Elvis Martin, Jr of Mill Creek, two sisters, Carol Gear and Sue Poling and husband Bob, all of Mill Creek, one straight-up sister in law, Brenda Martin, ten grandchildren, Nicholas and fiancé LaDonna, Patrick, Cait, Tiffany, Brittany, Teresa, Autumn, Isaac, Kylee and Katy, one great granddaughter, Abby and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding Nippy in death besides his parents and wife was one son, Timothy Adam Martin, four brothers, John, Joseph, Howard and Delmar, four sisters, Orpha McGee, Mildred Bailor, Alpha “Dink” Currence and an infant sister, Bessie Martin.
Nippy attended the schools of Randolph County and had worked as a laborer for several sawmills, mines and farms.
He had also been employed as a truck driver. Nippy enjoyed fishing, riding horses and deer hunting. He was a Mormon by faith.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2015 from 11AM until 12PM, the funeral hour.
Elder Lynn Muhlestein will officiate and interment will follow in the Martin Family Cemetery on Dry Run.
