Jack Eugene Moore 1938-2015 Obituary
Jack Eugene Moore, 77, a resident of Elkins and more recently Stephenson, VA, passed from this life Saturday, July 4, 2015 at home.
Jack was born Tuesday, January 11, 1938 in Cass, a son of the late Porter Moore and Garnett “Jo” Skidmore Moore.
On December 31, 1985, in Elkins, he married the former Nadine Wegman Fortney who survives in Stephenson, VA. Also left to cherish Jack’s memory are eight children, Jack Eugene and wife Darlene of WA, Johnny Edgar and companion Donna of Inwood, Rick Fortney and wife Hope of Bunkerhill, Marsha Lint and husband Rick of FL, Steve Fortney and wife Lisa of East Dailey, Dewayne Fortney and companion Pam, Tammy Ketterman and husband Marty and Tonya Arbogast and husband Lee, all of VA, one sister, Jill Pennington and husband Roy of Buckhannon, seventeen grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, one special godson, Brian “Pork” Hamrick and one special “boss lady” at Carquest, Diane Puffengerger Moore.
Preceding Jack in death besides his parents was one son, Rodney Fortney, one granddaughter, Crystal Moore, three sisters, Joyce Ann Stewart, Gwendolyn Faye Summerfield and Lorraine Hope Carver and one special bro/friend Marvin Odam.
Jack attended the schools of Randolph County and graduated with Elkins High School while serving in the U.S. Air Force. Following his service in the Air Force, Jack joined the US Army.
For several years, Jack served as the Governor of the Elkins Moose Lodge and then as the President of the Eagles Lodge.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing and cherished the time he spent with his family.
Jack loved to play the guitar and sing, and he was doing that just hours before he passed away.
A visitation will be held at the Randolph Funeral Home Friday from 5P-7P. A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home Saturday, July 11, 2015 at 1:00P.
Pastor Mike House and Pastor Homer “Carl” Weasenforth will officiate and interment will follow in Mountain State Memorial Gardens in Gilman.
