Karen Elain Underwood, 50, a resident of Elkins, passed from this life Friday, December 4, 2015 at Ruby Memorial Hospital’s Hospice Inpatient Unit in Morgantown. Karen was born Thursday, November 4, 1965 in Monroe County, a daughter of Mary Juanita Akers Underwood and the late Howard Carson Underwood. Also left to cherish Karens memory besides her mother, is her fianc, Daniel Mishow, four children, Crystal Dawn Phillips and husband, Damon, Mary Juanita McBee and companion, Dustin Hensley, Joshua Alan McBee, and Toni McBee and companion, Joshua Graham, all of Elkins, five siblings, Howard Underwood of Elkins, Penny Thomas of Dailey, Billy Underwood of Elkins, Pamela Underwood and companion Eric Poling of Elkins, and Jack Underwood and wife, Jennifer of Morgantown, seven grandchildren, Noah Phillips, Natalie Phillips, Sophie DeMotto, Ava McBee, Christopher Hensley, Zachariah Hensley, and Xavier Scott Graham, her first husband, Doyle Edward McBee, and several nieces and nephews. Preceding Karen in death were two grandsons, Dominic Keith Phillips and Oliver Reese McBee. Karen attended the schools of Monroe and Randolph Counties. She had worked as a correctional officer and with IBEX, but worked mostly as a homemaker caring for her family. She enjoyed fishing and loved the WV Mountaineers. She felt that having children was cool, but having grandchildren was the best. Her favorite times were spent with family whether cooking out or just spending time together. She attended the First Christian Church of Elkins. A visitation will be held at the Randolph Funeral Home on Tuesday from 6 until 8PM. Funeral services will be held from the funeral home chapel on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at 11AM. Rev S. Kent Price will officiate and interment will follow in the Brick Church Cemetery.
