Aaron Jeffery “A.J.” Wilfong, age 26 years, a resident of Elkins, passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at his residence. Death was sudden and unexpected. A.J. was born May 13, 1984 at Elkins, a son of Dale and Debbie Wilfong who survive in Elkins. Also surviving are three sisters, Betsy Hilson and husband Chris of Elkins, Kelly Vandevander and husband Michael and their daughter Isabella, Wendy Collins and her companion Anthony Huffman and their children, Hailey Collins, Cassia Collins and Gage Huffman. His Grandfather, Gene “Buck” Cook and many aunts, uncles and cousins also survive. Preceding him in death was his maternal grandmother, Loraine Cook, paternal grandparents, Wilma and Sewell Wilfong and one nephew, Noah Vandevander.
A.J. was a graduate of Elkins High School and was currently employed at Davis and Elkins College. He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed spending time with his friends, family and his dog, Spot. He was a loving son, brother, nephew and friend and will be greatly missed.
Friends may call from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Saturday, April 2, 2011 at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, April 3rd from the funeral home chapel with Pastor Terry Burgess officiating. Interment will follow in the Elkins Memorial Gardens on the Airport Road. The Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins is in charge of the arrangements for Aaron Jeffery “A.J.” Wilfong.
